Weather

Salento is pretty down south Italy. Its climate is typically Mediterranean, influenced by the region’s closeness to the sea, the rich vegetation and the total lack of mountains. It is typically warm in winter (around 50°F), sunny and hot in summer (with highest temperatures around 90°F in June, July and August), very pleasant in spring and fall till October (around 70°F). Rain, quite scarce, is mostly concentrated in autumn and winter what means that summer is, besides hot, very dry. Sunny days are a pleasant persistent event, with warm light wind from south east, called scirocco. Weather is one of the most important reasons why this region attracts tourists from spring to fall.
